Created for KOTN’s Fall Winter 2025 campaign, Don’t Go to Basateen at Night was filmed across the streets of Cairo, capturing the quiet romance and raw poetry of the city after dark. Directed by Jad Rahmé, the film reframes perceptions of Cairo by revealing the tenderness and humanity found beneath its neon lights and fading facades. Inspired by a familiar childhood warning, it looks past fear to find beauty in the everyday life of Basateen, a neighborhood once seen as dangerous but remembered with warmth and nostalgia.

The production was entirely shot on location with local crews and talent, using natural and practical light to preserve the authentic textures of Cairo’s nightscape. The shoot embraced the chaos of real locations, allowing Cairo’s streets, sounds, and night light to define the tone and texture of each scene. The film celebrates community, memory, and the understated elegance of KOTN’s design language, translating them into an atmosphere that feels both intimate and timeless.
